Our Story

Machine Works, a unique history.

Our neighbourhood was built on the former EMI factory, a company famous for its production of vinyl records.

The Old Vinyl Factory

By 1952, EMI was thriving - producing vinyl records for the likes of Cliff Richard, The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd.

However, by 1978, the cassette player took over and EMI moved away from Hayes, leaving its many factory buildings empty.

Keeping
the history alive

As part of a large redevelopment scheme, the former EMI factory has been transformed into a vibrant new community.

Our neighbourhood is now thriving, with residential homes, a cinema and a music venue.
