Now that June's come to an end and we’ve stepped into July, we're officially halfway through 2025. So, what better time to pause and reflect on the year so far? From wellness events and creative workshops to holiday celebrations and socials, we've shared some pretty amazing moments. We've enjoyed quality time with pets, laughs with neighbours and friends, and memories we won't forget — here’s a glimpse at just a few that have made the year so special.

Holidays & seasonal celebrations

Our residents have enjoyed lots of meaningful moments this year, coming together for special holidays and seasonal festivities. From Ramadan and Mother's Day celebrations to Valentine's Day treats and visits from the Easter Bunny, there's been no shortage of celebrations.

Wholesome moments with pets

Pets are part of the family, so of course we had to celebrate them too! They've enjoyed all kinds of playful activities, from a doggy date night to a few pet photo shoots (one even featured a runway!), plus plenty of treats along the way. And it's safe to say there are more wholesome moments with furry friends still to come.

Community socials

From casual get-togethers to themed nights in, we’ve created plenty of opportunities to connect with neighbours and make new friends. We've had a lively speed social, a gin tasting evening, garden club, resident-run yoga classes, pub quizzes and more. There’s always something happening to bring people together.

Sports & entertainment

We've kept things lively with a calendar full of fun-filled entertainment and sports-themed events. From Wimbledon watch parties and Eurovision viewings, to movie nights and pyjama parties, we've found so many ways to bring entertainment and community spirit together in one room.

More celebrations

From Pride and Lunar New Year parties to extra Wimbledon celebrations, we've embraced every opportunity to come together in festive spirit and community joy.

Delicious food & sweet surprises

There’s nothing like great food and drinks to bring people together, and our neighborhoods have served up plenty. From pancake mornings with a variety of toppings and DIY smoothie bowls to cheese boards for National Cheese Day and baked treats from Delish Bakery, our residents have truly been spoiled for choice.

Charities & partnerships

We’re proud of the ways we’ve given back, supporting good causes through collaborative and impactful events. Our sponsored sleep out for charity at the beginning of the year set a generous tone, which was followed by events like a bikeathon, RSPCA Bake Sale, and a good few raffles and giveaways. Our residents have also enjoyed lots of goodies and treats from our local partners, we’re all about balance over here.

It's been a fantastic year so far… and we're just getting started. Let's see what the second half of 2025 brings!

At ila, we're all about building strong communities that not only bring people together but also make a real difference in the world. Our residents and teams are passionate about supporting causes that matter, and over the past few months, we've gone above and beyond to raise money for the charities close to our hearts! From bikeathons and bake sales to mountain climbs and skydives, here's a look at some of the ways our communities have supported these charities.

ila

Hope and Homes for Children – Bikeathon
Our communities joined forces to raise money for Hope and Homes for Children; a charity that helps to transform the lives of vulnerable children by making sure they have the loving and supportive homes they deserve. Together, we cycled a whopping 488.59 MILES and raised a total of £1445 for the charity, and we couldn’t be more proud to have supported them in such a fun way!

Hairpin House

Macmillan Cancer Support – Bake Sale
The residents at Hairpin House enjoyed a bake sale with the most delicious baked goods to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The charity works hard to provide information, services and support to people living with cancer during every stage of their journey. Together we raised £20 for the charity, as well as bringing awareness to the meaningful work that Macmillan does.

Sherborne Place

RSPCA Birmingham Animal Centre – Snowdon climb
Sherborne Place’s very own Charlotte and Kyron took on Snowdon to support a charity close to their hearts: RSPCA Birmingham Animal Centre. The charity works to protect and improve animal welfare and end animal cruelty. With the climb, Charlotte and Kyron raised a huge £726 for the charity, exceeding their initial goal of £500 in donations and making both themselves and the ila team extremely proud!

Pall Mall Press

Alder Hey Children's Charity – Bake Sale
The team at Pall Mall Press baked some sweet treats and put together an amazing bake sale in support of Alder Hey Children's Charity. The charity raises funds to support Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool, going towards research, equipment and activities for the children. The residents definitely enjoyed it as most of the baked goods were gone before lunchtime – and the best part? We raised an amazing £112 for Alder Hey Children’s Charity!

Machine Works

Life Oasis Hayes – Charity Brunch
The residents at Machine Works came together for a brunch in support of Life Oasis Hayes, a food bank which serves the Hayes and Hillingdon areas of London. The team prepared a delicious spread of lunchtime classics for everyone to enjoy, while the residents contributed by bringing along their own food donations for Life Oasis Hayes.

Kangaroo Works

The Children’s Hospital Charity – Skydive
Carl, our adventurous Resident Services Supervisor from Kangaroo Works, fearlessly skydived to raise money for The Children’s Hospital Charity based in Sheffield. The charity helps to support Sheffield Children’s Hospital in funding treatment for children, offering vital medical care and support to young patients and their families during challenging times. With the skydive, Carl managed to raise a HUGE £452 for the charity!

So, to help you navigate the bustling city and decide where to visit first, we’ve put together a list of the top 10 places you should visit when you’re in London.

For the history, entertainment and culture:

  1. Madame Tussauds
For a chance to see some of your favourite celebrities up close (well, sort of), you should take a visit to the Madame Tussauds Museum. Here you’ll get to see all of your favourite stars – only instead of meeting the real person, you’ll meet their life-sized wax look-alike! Located in the heart of London’s West End, Madame Tussauds is home to an impressive collection of lifelike wax sculptures, ranging from A-list celebrities and historical figures to sports and cultural icons. With interactive exhibits, immersive sets, and so many photo opportunities, Madame Tussauds will definitely be a memorable experience.

  1. Sherlock Holmes Museum

To immerse yourself in the world of literature’s most famous detective, you need to visit the Sherlock Holmes Museum, located just steps away from our neighbourhood, 219 Baker. Based in a Georgian townhouse that recreates the fictional home of Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson, the unique museum is filled with meticulously designed rooms filled with furniture, artefacts and memorabilia related to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective stories. From Holmes's study and Watson's bedroom to the iconic sitting room with its crackling fireplace, the Sherlock Holmes Museum provides a fascinating glimpse into the world of one of literature's most enduring characters.

  1. The British Museum, Natural History Museum, and The National Gallery

If you're looking to explore the fascinating worlds of art, history, and science, you need to pay a visit to London’s trio of iconic museums: The British Museum, the Natural History Museum, and the National Gallery. Located in the heart of London’s cultural district, these globally recognised museums offer the chance to explore a large selection of exhibitions spanning centuries of history.

At the British Museum, you can marvel at the Rosetta Stone and the Elgin Marbles, as well as other priceless artefacts from ancient civilisations around the world. Then you can step into the Natural History Museum to see towering dinosaur skeletons, dazzling gemstones, and immersive exhibits exploring the wonders of the natural world. And finally, at the National Gallery you’ll be able to admire masterpieces by renowned artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent van Gogh, and Claude Monet as you wander through the galleries of one of the world's greatest art collections.

For nature and sightseeing:

  1. Regents Park, Primrose Hill and Hyde Park

For a peaceful and scenic day out in London, you should visit Regents Park, Primrose Hill, or Hyde Park. Starting with Regent’s Park, you’ll experience tranquil greenery in the heart of the city, with beautifully landscaped gardens, wide-open lawns, and scenic pathways perfect for picnics or strolls. Or, if you fancy a view from higher up, you should climb Primrose Hill as it offers stunning panoramic views of the London skyline, including landmarks like the Shard and Saint Paul’s Cathedral. Alternatively (or additionally depending on how long you’ll be here), you should pay a visit to Hyde Park, one of London’s largest royal parks. Here you’ll find sprawling grounds, meandering pathways, and picturesque lakes, which can be enjoyed during a walk, a picnic, or by booking a boat ride along the lake.

  1. London Zoo

Similar to London’s parks, if you’re looking to enjoy a relaxing and scenic day out in the city, a visit to London Zoo is a great option. Located in the picturesque surroundings of Regents Park, London Zoo is home to a diverse collection of animals from across the globe. Here you’ll see everything from majestic lions and penguins to fascinating reptiles and insects. You’ll also get to explore immersive exhibits like Tiger Territory, Gorilla Kingdom, and Penguin Beach, where you can observe some of the incredible creatures up close and learn about conservation efforts to protect their natural habitats.

  1. Buckingham Palace

The first place that many people think about when you mention London is Buckingham Palace, and for good reason! Here you’ll get to admire the magnificent façade of the royal palace, with its famous balcony where members of the royal family make public appearances on special occasions. If you go during the summer months, you should also make sure not to miss the colourful Changing of the Guard ceremony, a centuries-old tradition that takes place outside the palace gates.

  1. London Eye

If you’d like to enjoy an aerial view of the London skyline, a visit to the London Eye should be high up on your to-do list. Located on the South Bank of the River Thames, the London Eye will take you on a breathtaking journey above the city skyline. Whether you opt for a daytime ride to admire the scenery in the sunshine or a nighttime journey to see London lit up with twinkling lights, a trip the London Eye will definitely be a memorable part of your time spent in the city.

  1. Big Ben

Located in the heart of Westminster, Big Ben is a sight you’ll find hard to miss while you’re in the city. Towering over the Houses of Parliament, the clock tower has been keeping time for the city since 1859. With its distinctive design and detailed architecture, Big Ben is an iconic symbol of London’s rich history and heritage. So, whether you’re interested in taking a photo with the famous landmark or simply soaking in the surrounding atmosphere of London’s most popular attractions, a visit to Big Ben is a must!

For shopping and souvenirs:

  1. London Beatles Store

For a peak into the history of one of the world's most influential and iconic bands, you should visit the London Beatles Store. Located in the heart of the city, the merchandise store will give you the chance to explore the fascinating story behind the Fab Four. So, whether you’re a die-hard Beatles fan or simply looking to learn more about their legacy, the London Beatles Store will leave you with some incredible memories and souvenirs.

  1. Oxford Street

To indulge in some of your favourite culinary treats, shopping stores, and nightlife, you should take some time to explore Oxford Street. Being one of the city’s best shopping destinations, Oxford Street is home to an amazing selection of department stores, designer boutiques, and high-street retailers. While you’re shopping, you can pause to recharge with a delicious meal at one of the street's many restaurants, cafés, or gastropubs, and to end a day out on Oxford Street, you can head to any of the street’s bustling bars, pubs, or clubs for a memorable night out in the heart of London.

Overall, there are plenty of places to see and explore in London, with our neighbourhood 219 Baker being close to many of them. The city's abundance of entertainment, leisure, cultural, and cuisine options ensure that there's something for everyone to enjoy. We've even partnered with a few local businesses to offer you exclusive offers and discounts while you’re out and about! So, whether you're new to the city or you're looking to explore more of what London has to offer, we hope this guide has given you some inspiration for your next adventure.
